The Be Theme markets itself as a multipurpose theme that can be used for any type of website, from small business sites to online stores and even blogs.

In this post, we’ll take a look at the ease of use, its features, and cover the theme’s pros and cons so you can decide if the Be theme is the right choice for your site.

Ease of Use – 3/5

The Be theme has plenty of features which can make the theme a little overwhelming when it comes to new WordPress users. Let’s take a look at how easy to use this theme is when it comes to installation, importing demo content, and working with the page builder.

To install the Be theme, you’ll need to follow the regular theme installation process. This means you’ll need to log into your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes > Upload new.

Then, you’ll upload and activate the Be theme. Once the theme has been installed, you’ll need to register the theme by entering your Envato purchase code.

Be Theme Post Installation Screen

After the registration has been completed, you’ll be prompted to install the necessary plugins. When that process is complete, you can begin working on your site, either by creating pages from scratch or by importing one of the premade sites.

Importing Demo Content

Installing demo content is a great way to speed up the website setup time. The Be theme comes with an impressive number of premade websites, over 450 of them.

As impressive as that is, it’s also overwhelming. However, it’s worth mentioning that you can filter through different site categories as well as search for a particular website.

Once you’ve chosen your desired demo site, you’ll be prompted to install additional plugins needed for the demo to work properly. You will also have the option to choose the content you want to import. After that, the import process will begin and notify you once it’s done.

Working With the Page Builder

After you have imported your chosen demo, you can start customizing the pages with your own content. The page builder that comes with the Be theme is the WPBakery Page Builder plugin.

This page builder consists of front-end and backend editor, however, the only thing you can do with the front-end editor is add more elements to your page. To edit existing elements, you’ll need to use the backend editor which makes it difficult to see the changes you’re making.

The backend editor itself has a somewhat complicated interface which can make it difficult to understand which section of the page you’re editing.

Backend builder

Overall, installing and activating the Be theme is not a complicated process. What some users might find overwhelming is the process of choosing a pre-built website and waiting for the import process to finish.

Working with the page builder is challenging. While the page builder plugin claims to have a front-end editor, there is no obvious way to edit or customize existing elements on the front-end. You can only add new elements to your page or enter custom CSS.

Features – 4/5

Now that we’ve covered the ease of use, let’s take a look at some of the main features of the Be theme.

WPBakery Page Builder

As mentioned earlier, the Be theme uses the WPBakery Page Builder plugin. The plugin allows you to add various elements to your pages which include contact forms, sliders, progress bars, accordions, buttons, and more. You can style each element using the page builder’s interface.

Page Builder Elements

Elements can be saved to your library so you can reuse them on other pages and preview how your site will look on various device sizes. It’s worth mentioning that you can selectively enable and disable elements based on the screen size.

Demo Websites

The demo websites that come with the Be theme can be used for various industries. You’ll find business websites as well as spa, musician, blogger, portfolio, one page websites, and more.

Premade Websites

The demos have a professional and polished look so if you’re looking for a theme with a professional look and feel, the Be theme could be a great choice.

Header Layouts

An interesting feature that is included with the Be theme is the header layouts. You’ll find 20+ pre-built header layouts and you can create a custom header layout with elements of your choosing. You can add your logo, navigation menu, social links, and more. You can also independently create different menus for different devices.

Built-in Mega Menu

The Be theme comes with a built-in mega menu which works great for eCommerce websites or any website that has a complex layout structure. You can control which pages are added to the menu using the standard Menu settings in WordPress.

Customization Options

Although you can style each element on the page using the WPBakery Page Builder, the Be theme comes with an extensive theme options panel. Here you can configure global colors and fonts, upload your logo, add social media profiles, and more.

Reliability – 3/5

The Be Theme was originally released in 2014 and since then it’s been topping the ThemeForest best-sellers list. To date, it counts more than 150,000 sales and 5-star ratings.

With more than 450 pre-made websites to choose from, you can create any type of website with this theme. Another benefit of the Be Theme is the fact that it comes with cool styling options for WooCommerce so you can use it to create an online store.

But, the Be theme has its own set of shortcomings. For starters, there is no front-end page builder so you can’t see the changes without opening another tab and constantly refreshing the page.

Another disadvantage is that the theme is complicated to learn which means it’s not the best choice for beginners.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you plan on using this theme solely for blogging, you will be disappointed with the lack of blog layout options.

As far as the integration with other plugins goes, the Be theme comes bundled with popular plugins like Layer Slider. It also integrates with WooCommerce, WPML, Yoast, Contact Form 7, and others.

Support – 4/5

The Be Theme comes with the standard 6 months of support that’s included with all the themes purchased from ThemeForest. This includes:

  • Availability of the author to answer questions
  • Answering technical questions about item’s features
  • Assistance with reported bugs and issues
  • Help with included 3rd party assets

The support for Be Theme includes a detailed user guide as well as a support forum where you can browse and search through existing topics as well as open up your own support topic. You can also reach out to the theme developer using the private messaging function on ThemeForest. The support answers all tickets twice a day Monday through Friday.

Pricing – 3.5/5

The Be Theme is available from ThemeForest for $59. This is the price for the regular license which covers use on one website and includes 6 months of support. You can extend the support for an additional 6 months by paying an extra $17.63.

When it comes to pricing, the Be theme has the same issue as other themes from ThemeForest. If you want to use the same theme on multiple websites, you’ll need to purchase additional licenses which can add up over time.

Final Thoughts

The Be theme is one of the most popular themes on ThemeForest. It comes bundles with several premium plugins as well as the WPBakery Page Builder plugin. It also offers an impressive number of premade websites that you can use as a starting point to build your site.

However, the disadvantage of the Be theme is that it lacks a front-end builder which means you have to have two tabs open as you’re building your site so you can see the changes. On top of that, the theme has a steep learning curve and lacks blog layout options.

As such, the Be theme might be the right choice for you if you’re already an experienced WordPress user looking for a theme that has professional-looking demos.

Before making the final decision, evaluate the pros and cons to help you decide if the Be theme is the right choice for your website.
