A website is the best way to get your business and brand noticed and the most important asset you can have if you want to make money online. A lot of my subscribers ask me how to make a website from scratch quickly and without spending a lot of money so I decided to make a video tutorial.

In this tutorial, I’ll be teaching you exactly how to make your website without using expensive options like Wix or Shopify. This tutorial will walk you through the steps of creating your site with WordPress which is a free platform and hands-down the easiest platform for building your site. We’ll also use a free theme and a free plugin that will help you get your site up and running in 10 minutes.

The only cost for this website is a one-time low purchase for your web hosting. We’ll be using the number 1 fastest WordPress host, Siteground. Let’s dive in.

Why WordPress

As I mentioned earlier, WordPress is a free platform that’s also easy to use, even for beginners. Aside from that, WordPress comes with thousands of free themes and plugins that allow you to create a beautiful website even if you don’t know how to code. This tutorial will show you how to use the Astra theme which is free and can be used for any type of website and a free page builder plugin called Elementor.

Thanks to Astra and Elementor, you’ll get access to dozens of premade templates so you can easily have your entire website launched quickly.

Why Siteground

Siteground is quickly becoming the number 1 recommended WordPress host as it ranks as the fastest hosting company with excellent customer service. Siteground is also recommended by platform so you can rest assured that your site will be in good hands.

Siteground offers 3 different plans and they all include free email accounts, free SSL certificate, daily backups, unmetered traffic, 24/7 support, and 30-day money back guarantee. They are more expensive than other WordPress hosts but you can get $70 off your hosting plan using my link.

Getting started with Siteground

Now that we’ve covered why Siteground is the best hosting company for your site, let’s talk about getting your site up and running.

To start, visit Siteground and choose the plan you want. Even though you are just starting out, I recommend signing up for their GrowBig or GoGeek plan. Those two plans come with the ability to host multiple sites on one account which will save you the hassle of upgrading your plan later on if you choose the StartUp plan and decide you want more websites.

Click the Order Now button and on the next page, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase your domain name. Enter the desired domain name and click Proceed.

On the next page, you’ll be able to enter your account details and finish the purchase. Keep in mind that there are a few extra options I recommend having:

  • The domain privacy which will protect your information so people won’t be able to see your personal details when looking up your domain
  • The SG Site Scanner which will scan your site every day for malware to ensure no hackers gain access to it.

Once you complete the payment, you’ll be able to login to your account area and install WordPress on your brand new domain.

Installing WordPress

After you have completed the purchase, Siteground will take you to your customer’s area. Here, you can install WordPress so you can start getting your site up and running. Click on Start a New Site and then click the WordPress icon. You’ll need to enter a desired username and password for your site. You will also need to provide your email address so you can easily recover your password if you need to. Click Complete Setup and then wait for the installation process to finish.

Once the setup is complete, click the Proceed to Customer’s Area and then choose My Accounts tab. Click the button that says Go to Admin Area and you’ll be taken to your new website. You can then log in using the information you provided in the setup process.

Setting Up Your Site With WordPress

After you log in to your site, you’ll see your WordPress dashboard. This area is where you’ll spend most of your time; creating content and getting it out there.

You can see how your site looks right now by clicking the View Site link in the admin bar at the top of your screen.

To continue with your site setup, you need to install a WordPress theme. WordPress themes control how your site looks. For this tutorial, we’ll be using the Astra theme. With the Astra theme, you’ll get access to free, unlimited premade templates which will speed up the setup process.

To get started, go to Appearance > Themes and click the Popular tab. Then, locate the Astra theme and click Install. Once the theme has been installed, click the Activate button.

After the theme has been activated, go to Appearance > Astra Options and select Install Importer Plugin.

Wait for the plugin to install and activate and then click on See library. Here, select Elementor and then choose a template you like.

I’ve decided to use the Agency template. Click the See Preview button to see how this template looks and to begin the installation process. As you can see from the screenshot below, you’ll be able to see which plugins are required for this template and begin the installation process.

Click on Install Plugins and then Import This Site to install this template on your site. Once the import process is complete, you can start customizing your site. Don’t forget to preview the site and make sure everything was installed correctly by clicking the Done! View Site button.

Editing the Site and Styles

To start editing the site, all you have to do is click on Edit With Elementor. On the screen that loads, you’ll see your site on the right-hand side of the screen and the Elementor interface on the left-hand side of the screen.

You can easily replace the contents by double-clicking the text or the area you want to edit and replacing the text with your own.

You can change the way your text looks by changing the colors and the fonts in the Style tab of Elementor. You can also add more elements to your pages such as images, videos, buttons, and more.

When you’re done customizing the homepage, simply repeat this process for all other pages on your site.

If you want to know more about Elementor and how it works, I have a full tutorial on the Elementor plugin and how to use it to create a website.
