The WP Page Builder plugin is a relative newcomer to the WordPress page builder plugin scene but it’s already making a name for itself. For starters, the plugin has a very feature-rich free version that’s available on the official repository.
It currently has more than 9000 active installs and boasts a 4.5-star rating. In today’s review, we’ll take a look at the ease of use of the WP Page Builder plugin, go over the main features, and cover support and pricing options.
Let’s start this review off by going through the installation process and using the plugin.
To get started with the WP Page Builder plugin, you’ll need to install it and activate it on your site first. The process is the same as for any other plugin: go to Plugins > Add new, search for the WP Page Builder, and then install and activate the plugin.
Once the plugin has been installed, it’s ready to be used. It works with any theme so you can immediately get started on the page building process.
To use the plugin, go to Pages > Add new. Before editing the page with the page builder, be sure to select the WP Page Builder template from the drop-down menu under page attributes section and then click the blue button that says Edit with WP Page Builder.
You can then add a row and start adding different elements such as accordions, text, images, and more onto your page.
Each element has its own settings where you can configure settings like margins and paddings as well as more advanced style settings such as colors, fonts, overlays, backgrounds, and similar.
What’s nice about the WP Page Builder plugin is that it also gives you an option to control whether a particular elements shows up on all devices or if it’s hidden on mobile devices for example.
Another interesting feature is the ability to easily add inner rows with a click of a button. You can also duplicate rows and columns and add new columns that automatically adjust to the available space on the page.
If you want to save time, you can use one of the premade layouts or blocks. Similarly to the individual elements, you can style each section individually, move it up or down or drag it anywhere else on the page.
Overall, using the plugin is very easy, even for complete beginners. The plugin is rather fast and feels intuitive.
Now that we’ve covered the installation and general ease of use, let’s go over the main features of the plugin.
The first feature are the addons. This simply refers to different elements you can add to the page to create the layout. Addons include text, accordion, alert, buttons, feature boxes, carousels, and various WordPress widgets. A few notable widgets include video popup and flip boxes.
Blocks are premade sections. Currently, you can add blocks for your team showcase, call to action, feature boxes, pricing tables, and content. Each block has several layouts to choose from and you can easily drag and drop them onto the page.
WP Page Builder plugin comes with a few premade layouts. While the popup for the layouts says that 31 bundles are available, you only get 5 free bundles. While that number is a bit low, it’s worth mentioning that each bundle comes with multiple page layouts. You can easily create a homepage, about page, and contact page from one bundle.
The layouts are modern and easy to customize so you can rest assured your site won’t look the same as someone else’s using the same plugin.
Finally, the library option allows you to save your layouts so you can reuse them on other pages on your site. However, you can only save individual blocks (or premade sections). There is no way to save a full-page layout.
A workaround is to build out your page and then export the layout using the Tools section in the WP Page Builder plugin. You can then import the .JSON file onto another page.
The WP Page Builder plugin works with any theme thanks to the ability to set a WP Page Builder template for each page you build. This is a big plus in the plugin’s favor as you don’t have to worry about changing your theme.
You can use the plugin to edit both posts and pages so it’s pretty easy to make your blog posts look unique.
According to the developers, the plugin is also compatible with Custom Post Types so you can use it to create unique layouts for those types of posts as well.
The plugin is easy to use and I haven’t come across any glitches while using it. Importing templates and sections takes a single click and it’s easy to see which templates are free and which are available in the pro version.
As far as support goes, the free version of the plugin is limited to plugin and developer documentation along with the support offered through the plugin repository.
The Documentation page has articles and tutorials that walk you through the installation process as well as the basics of working with the plugin. While the tutorials are detailed, it would be nice if there was a video tutorial that goes over the plugin settings and features.
If you want access to priority support, you’ll have to upgrade to the premium version of the plugin. Priority support includes access to their support forum where you can submit tickets and ask questions.
As mentioned earlier, the WP Page Builder plugin can be downloaded for free from the official repository. The free version itself offers plenty of features that are more than enough to help you build your website. That said, if you want access to even more premade templates and sections along with access to premium support, you can upgrade to the pro version of the plugin.
The pro version is available in three different pricing plans:
Overall, the WP Page Builder plugin is a great page builder plugin for WordPress. Despite the fact that it’s a relatively new plugin, it offers a ton of features such as premade templates and amazing sections for free which is on par if not more than what some other page builder plugins offer for free.
It’s also easy to use and allows you to edit your site on the frontend so you can see what you’re doing and how your site will look. On top of that, the plugin has a lifetime plan available which is great if you plan to use this page builder for all your sites.
The only downsides to the plugin are that it currently lacks theme building support and there aren’t any third-party addons for it. However, given that the plugin is new, it’s to be expected.
All things considered, I would recommend the WP Page Builder plugin for anyone looking for an easy to use page builder with plenty of features and an affordable price.Try WP Page Builder
